The prolific cerastium (Cerastium biebersteinii) is a virtually indestructible and rapid growing perennial, that tolerates the worst of conditions. The silvery grey leaves should be pruned often to curb its invasive habit. The leaves provide plenty of green mulch and compost fodder.
